The official handover ceremony was attended by Mexican Ambassador Leonora Rueda Gutierrez alongside several distinguished Egyptian officials, including Major General Osama Abdel Aziz, Director of the City of Arts; Engineer Khaled Abbas, CEO of the New Administrative Capital Company; and Dr. Zein Abdel Hady, Director of the Library.
The generous donation was made possible with the support of several esteemed Mexican organizations, including Mexico’s General Directorate of Historical and Diplomatic Heritage, the Network of Libraries and Archives within the Historic Center of Mexico City, the Economic Culture Fund, the National Institute of Anthropology and History, and the General Directorate of Cooperation and Internationalization of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
The collection of 339 books covers a wide range of topics such as history, culture, archaeology, literature, and international relations. This diverse selection will significantly enrich the library’s resources, allowing Egyptian students, researchers, and readers greater access to the rich heritage and vibrant culture of Mexico.
During the ceremony, the Ambassador emphasised that this initiative reflects Mexico’s dedication to cultural diplomacy as a unique way to enhance dialogue and cooperation between nations. On their part, the Egyptian representatives expressed deep gratitude for the contribution, highlighting the importance of the collection in strengthening mutual understanding and cultural cooperation between Mexico and Egypt.
