Extended banking hours announced in Egypt

The Central Bank of Egypt has announced an extension of operating hours at select bank branches nationwide.

Starting July 8, 2025, a number of bank branches will now remain open to customers until 5:00 p.m. instead of the previous closing time of 3:00 p.m., from Sunday through Thursday. The extension aims to enhance public access to banking services and will continue until further notice.

The decision grants each bank the flexibility to choose which branches adopt the longer hours, based on their geographic distribution and customer needs across the country.

Special arrangements have also been made for branches located within commercial centers, clubs, and hotels:

- Branches in shopping malls will operate from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. providing banking services throughout the week, including Fridays and Saturdays.

- Mall branches with direct street access will serve customers until 5:00 p.m. on official working days (Sunday to Thursday).

- Branches in sports and social clubs will be open until 8:00 p.m. every day of the week, including weekends, to accommodate club visitors.

- Club branches with street access will close at 5:00 p.m. on official working days.

- Hotel branches will also stay open until 5:00 p.m. daily, with currency exchange services available in the evenings if requested by the bank.

- Hotel branches with street access will follow the 5:00 p.m. closing time on official working days, with currency exchange offered per scheduled times.

The Central Bank’s initiative reflects a broader commitment to convenience, aiming to meet the evolving needs of customers and support a dynamic and inclusive banking environment across Egypt.
