Egypt rejects ‘desperate attempts’ to undermine Saudi-Egyptian ties

Alamein – Egypt's Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, today vehemently rejected what he described as "desperate attempts by irresponsible online platforms" to harm the historic and robust relationship between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The strong condemnation came during his meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in the Egyptian city of Alamein, a clear signal of the two nations' united front against disinformation.

Unwavering brotherhood, strategic Partnership

The foreign ministers underscored the profound and enduring brotherly ties that bind Egypt and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the rapid advancements in their relationship under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Both officials praised the significant momentum in Egyptian-Saudi relations, highlighting the qualitative leap in comprehensive development witnessed by both nations.

They pointed to the establishment of the Egyptian-Saudi Higher Coordination Council as a testament to their commitment to elevating cooperation to meet the aspirations of their peoples, particularly in economic, investment, and trade sectors.

Gaza, Libya, and Sudan top regional agenda

Beyond bilateral relations, the discussions delved into critical regional developments, with the Palestinian issue taking center stage. Minister Abdel Aty updated his Saudi counterpart on Egypt's ongoing efforts to resume a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He detailed Egypt's intensive communications with all parties to secure a halt to hostilities and ensure the full, unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Abdel Aty also announced Egypt's intention to host a conference for the reconstruction of the Strip.

The ministers also addressed the evolving situation in Libya. Minister Abdel Aty outlined Egypt's initiatives to support an intra-Libyan solution, emphasizing national consensus without external impositions or interventions that would bypass the role of national Libyan institutions. He reiterated the importance of respecting Libya's sovereignty and territorial integrity, urging international efforts to restore security and stability across the country.

Furthermore, both sides discussed efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis, focusing on halting the ongoing conflict. They underscored their shared commitment to Sudan's unity and territorial integrity, rejecting external interference and emphasizing the preservation of national institutions and the interests of the Sudanese people.

Condemnation of Israeli aggression in Syria

In a united stance on regional files, the foreign ministers condemned Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, denouncing the violation of Syria's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. They specifically cited the recent targeting of the Tishreen Presidential Palace and the General Staff compound in Damascus. Both officials reiterated the necessity of Israel's withdrawal from all Syrian territories occupied since 1967, including the Golan Heights, and stressed the importance of respecting Syrian sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

The meeting between the Egyptian and Saudi foreign ministers underscored a significant convergence of views between the two allied nations, reflecting a mutual desire to further develop bilateral ties and collaborate on finding political and diplomatic solutions to the region's complex crises.
