Egypt minister monitors provincial response to severe weather, dust winds
Egypt’s Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad received a report on Saturday from the ministry’s National Emergency Network Control Centre detailing deteriorating weather conditions and instability across several provinces, the ministry said in a statement.
The report said the ministry’s emergency control centre had been directed to coordinate with provincial authorities for continuous monitoring, field inspections, and immediate response measures. These include checking sites reported to have suffered damage from the weather, and taking action to clear fallen trees, billboards or debris that may affect traffic, environmental safety or public health.
The ministry added that its emergency control centre and crisis management unit were monitoring the situation in real time through a network connecting provincial operations rooms, ensuring that field measures were being implemented promptly.
Awad instructed all governorates to maintain maximum emergency readiness across districts, cities and local units, and to respond immediately to any obstacles or rainwater accumulation.
She also stressed the need to activate provincial crisis rooms and control centres, handle citizen reports without delay, and coordinate with relevant local authorities to clear storm impacts from both highways and internal roads.
The ministry urged citizens to avoid lampposts, billboards and trees, and to exercise caution on highways until weather conditions stabilise and visibility improves.
Awad said the ministry’s monitoring systems continue to track weather developments and respond immediately in coordination with governorates and executive bodies to ensure rapid on‑the‑ground action.
