Egypt hosts Modern Pentathlon World Cup
Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, met with Dr. Rob Stull, President of the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM), as Egypt prepares to host the renowned World Cup series in Alexandria from July 4-7.
The meeting highlighted Egypt’s comprehensive preparations to stage major events on the global modern pentathlon calendar.
Dr. Sobhy proudly confirmed, “Egypt is fully prepared and honored to welcome the world’s top athletes—an achievement we owe to the trust and support of the international federation.”
He also welcomed Dr. Stull’s visit, emphasizing that Egypt’s ongoing commitment and state-backed support have advanced the nation to an elite position in modern pentathlon worldwide.
“We are confidently moving toward the top of the global rankings, thanks to a new generation of talented Egyptian athletes,” Dr. Sobhy added, referencing the Under-21 World Championships in Hungary, where the Egyptian team recently won five medals, including three golds.
Dr. Stull commended Egypt’s remarkable sporting development, noting the national team’s continued success at international events, including the Tokyo and Paris Olympic Games, and praised the country’s growing role as a leader in the sport.
