Egypt urges restraint, condemns Iran, Israel attacks

Egypt called on all parties to adhere to international law and international humanitarian law amid a dangerous military escalation in the region, warning that attacks on civilian and oil facilities risk plunging the area into widespread chaos.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said the United Nations Charter prohibits targeting civilian facilities and infrastructure, describing such acts as a clear violation of international humanitarian law and the principles governing military operations.

Egypt condemned what it described as Iran’s targeting of a residential complex in the Saudi city of Al-Kharj, reiterating its “full solidarity” with Saudi Arabia as well as Gulf Arab states, Iraq and Jordan, and rejecting “any Iranian attacks” against them, the statement said.

Cairo also renewed its condemnation of what it called Israel’s “systematic” attacks during the current escalation, including in Lebanon, which it said had forced more than 600,000 Lebanese to flee. Egypt said it stood fully with Lebanon and rejected what it described as Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

The ministry further condemned Israeli practices in the occupied West Bank, including land confiscation and settlement expansion, which it said violate international law and international humanitarian law.

Egypt urged restraint and warned against military solutions, calling for de-escalation through diplomatic means, dialogue and calm to safeguard regional and international peace and security.
