Egypt to resume gas supplies to factories after temporary halt amid regional tensions
Egypt announced that it will resume gas supplies to several factories starting Friday, following a temporary suspension caused by recent shortages.
The announcement came during the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
Due to regional instability and its impact on energy availability, some Egyptian factories experienced an interruption in gas supplies over the past several days. Prime Minister Madbouly reassured industrial stakeholders and the international community that the government is prioritizing a swift return to normal operations.
“The state is committed to providing the requirements necessary to keep production lines running and support economic growth,” Madbouly said. He emphasized that gas flow to affected factories will recommence Friday morning, and highlighted government efforts to bolster the energy sector’s resilience.
The Egyptian Prime Minister also noted recent visits to key infrastructure sites, such as the Sokhna region, where preparations are underway to increase natural gas import capacity. These steps underline Egypt’s continued focus on ensuring energy security for its industrial sector in the face of regional challenges.
Officials reaffirmed their support for domestic industry and outlined plans to offer further incentives to drive growth and expand local manufacturing, as the government works to buffer the economy from ongoing regional tensions.
