Egypt’s FM underscores need for de-escalation in the region
Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel Atty, stressed today that the pursuit of security and stability through the use of force is an illusion and will not bring true peace to Israel or the region.
His comments were made during a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul at the Tahrir Palace in Cairo, following bilateral talks.
Responding to questions about Israeli escalation against Iran and ongoing efforts to defuse tensions, Dr. Abdel Atty reaffirmed Egypt’s clear position. He stated that Egypt opposes all forms of escalation and condemns what he described as Israel’s unjustified aggression against Iran. He warned that such actions only aggravate tensions and risk fueling a wider regional conflict, turning an already volatile region into a potential flashpoint.
Dr. Abdel Atty explained that there is no military solution to these challenges and underlined Egypt’s strong support for diplomatic negotiations between Iran and the United States. Egypt is directly engaged in this process, maintaining communication with American, Iranian, and Omani officials.
He emphasized that Egypt stands firmly on the side of de-escalation and is working intensively to prevent the region from descending into full-scale war.
