Putin praises Sisi’s Middle East peace efforts
Saint Petersburg - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday expressed high appreciation for Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s efforts to resolve Middle East crises, particularly the Palestinian issue, and voiced Russia’s support for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Putin made the remarks in response to a question from a Middle East News Agency (MENA) correspondent during a meeting with representatives of international news agencies at Constantine Palace in Saint Petersburg.
“I highly appreciate President al-Sisi’s efforts in solving problems in the Middle East, especially the Palestinian issue, and his support for finding just solutions,” Putin said.
He added that he was aware of Sisi’s active role in efforts to resolve the Iranian crisis through communication with all parties involved.
Putin thanked the Egyptian president for his attention to strengthening Russian-Egyptian relations, describing Sisi as “a friend of mine and of Russia” who works to develop bilateral ties.
He highlighted several joint projects implemented in recent years, including the Russian Industrial Zone in Egypt and the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant.
Putin expressed hope that the first unit of the El-Dabaa plant would be completed between 2027 and 2028, alongside the training of numerous Egyptian engineers and local personnel.
