Sisi participates in Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit sideline meeting
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated today in a sideline meeting during the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, joined by the King of Jordan, the Presidents of France and Turkey, the Emir of Qatar, the German Chancellor, the Prime Ministers of Italy, the United Kingdom, and Canada, and the Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister.
According to the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the meeting aimed to coordinate among participating countries on implementing the Gaza ceasefire agreement, including efforts for reconstruction and delivering humanitarian aid.
President Sisi emphasized the importance of holding the Cairo Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in November 2025, building on the momentum generated by the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit. He urged European nations to encourage all relevant parties to implement the Gaza ceasefire agreement, noting that Egypt and Jordan are training Palestinian police personnel. He stressed the need for European support to continue and expand these training efforts.
The spokesperson added that the participating countries underscored the importance of delivering sufficient humanitarian aid to Gaza, removing debris, and establishing a coordination mechanism among the nations involved in today’s summit to agree on specific steps to achieve these goals.
