Egypt welcomes Hamas statement responding to Trump’s Gaza ceasefire plan

Egypt has welcomed the recent statement issued by Hamas in response to the US President’s plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

Egypt views this move as a positive step, reflecting Hamas and other Palestinian factions’ commitment to safeguarding Palestinian lives, ending the suffering of innocent civilians, and seeking a brighter future for the region through the cessation of hostilities.

In an official statement, Egypt also reiterated its appreciation for the efforts of the US President to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East. The government welcomed the President’s full commitment to ending the war in Gaza, his rejection of both the annexation of the West Bank and the displacement of Palestinians from their land, as well as his vision for reconstructing Gaza while ensuring the right of Palestinians to remain on their homeland and return if they wish.

Egypt described these steps as reflecting wise and thoughtful leadership that aspires to foster peaceful coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians.

Egypt expressed hope that this positive development will inspire all parties to show the responsibility and flexibility needed to implement the US President’s plan on the ground, bring an end to the conflict, ensure humanitarian aid reaches Gaza without restrictions through international mechanisms, and secure the release of hostages and detainees.

Egypt stressed that such steps could lead the way to a new phase of peace and negotiations, working towards a two-state solution that has long been endorsed by the international community.

Egypt affirmed its unwavering intention to intensify coordination with Arab and Islamic nations, the United States, European partners, and the broader international community to establish a lasting ceasefire, alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, and rebuild Gaza.
