Egypt commemorates the 52nd anniversary of October War Victory
In a heartfelt ceremony marking the 52nd anniversary of Egypt’s historic October War victory, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Sunday honored the memory of the nation’s military heroes.
The commemoration began with President Sisi’s visit to the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier in Cairo’s Nasr City. Upon arrival, he was warmly greeted by Minister of Defense and Military Production, General Abdel Meguid Saqr, Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, along with senior officers from the armed forces and the commander of the Central Military Region.
In a moment of deep respect and national pride, President Sisi laid a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier as the military band played the poignant “Martyr’s Salute” in honor of Egypt’s fallen heroes. The president also paid tribute to several veteran commanders of the October War, reflecting Egypt’s unwavering gratitude for their sacrifices.
Continuing the day’s commemorations, President Sisi visited the tomb of late President Anwar Sadat, the leader credited with guiding Egypt during the October War. There, he laid a wreath and offered prayers before greeting members of President Sadat’s family and military leaders. The ceremony concluded with the playing of the Egyptian national anthem, followed by President Sisi extending his respects to senior state officials.
Accompanied by Defense Minister Saqr, President Sisi then visited the mausoleum of late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, another of Egypt’s revered leaders. The president placed a wreath and recited prayers for Nasser’s memory, greeted his family, and expressed appreciation for their enduring legacy.
These touching tributes reflect Egypt’s solemn remembrance of its national heroes, and emphasize the enduring values of sacrifice and unity that continue to inspire the nation and its people.
