Egypt’s Pyramids glow with new eco-friendly lighting

The timeless allure of the Giza Pyramids just became even more enchanting as Egypt unveils a state-of-the-art, eco-friendly lighting system, thanks to a remarkable collaboration between Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Spanish government.

For the first time, visitors from around the world can experience the interiors of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure pyramids aglow with innovative LED lighting. These advanced systems not only respect and preserve the ancient stones but also cast a gentle brilliance that reveals the intricate details and masterful engineering of these iconic structures.

This visionary project is part of Egypt’s ongoing commitment to welcoming global visitors, enhancing their experience while honoring the priceless heritage of one of civilization’s wonders.

Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sharif Fathy, shared, “Our aim is to enrich each visitor’s journey and to open doors to the marvels of Egypt for people from every nation.” He emphasized that the project upholds the highest international standards for heritage conservation.

The initiative came to life through a close partnership with a team of Spanish archaeologists and engineers, drawing on detailed research and respect for the monuments’ delicate history. Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained, “The new lighting protects the ancient architecture, ensuring these treasures can be admired for generations to come.”

For travelers near and far, this means an even more immersive experience inside the pyramids—even in passageways and inner chambers not always accessible before.

Ashraf Mohi El Din, Director-General of Giza Antiquities, noted, “With sensitive, energy-efficient lights, visitors can truly appreciate the scale, artistry, and mystery of ancient Egypt, while we maintain the authenticity that makes these sites so special.”

More than just a technical upgrade, this project exemplifies international friendship and a shared responsibility to safeguard the world’s cultural heritage. With sustainability at its heart, Egypt invites travelers from every continent to experience this new chapter in the story of the Giza Pyramids—a testament to the enduring spirit of cooperation and discovery.

Whether a first-time visitor or a returning admirer, the Pyramids of Giza now offer a radiant new perspective, bridging past and present in the soft glow of the future.
