Egypt boosts local tech industry

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited the “Safi Group” factory in the 6th of October City on Thursday, as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to boost local industry and promote advanced technology in Egypt.


During the visit, Prime Minister Madbouly toured production lines for televisions, smartphones, routers, security cameras, and medical devices, according to the Middle East News Agency. 


The factory, a leading hub for advanced manufacturing and communications, operates 25 production lines and is capable of producing up to 10 million Xiaomi smartphones, 500,000 television screens, 2 million routers, and 2 million security cameras annually.


Safi Wahba, Chairman of Safi Group, highlighted the factory’s role in supporting Egypt’s economy by producing high-quality products and creating thousands of jobs. 


Factory managers outlined their strong emphasis on local manufacturing, with a significant percentage of locally sourced components, and discussed plans to further increase local content in production.


The Prime Minister praised the advanced industries at the factory, noting their contribution to Egypt’s strategy of localizing technology and reducing reliance on imports. He also reaffirmed the government’s readiness to offer incentives supporting further factory expansion and technological innovation.
