Arab health leaders unite in Cairo, propose integrated network and stand in solidarity with Gaza
At the opening of the 2nd Arab Health Authorities Conference, held as part of the EGY HEALTH EXPO 2025, Egypt’s Head of the General Healthcare Authority, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, delivered a heartfelt call for stronger Arab cooperation in healthcare. He also conveyed Egypt’s firm rejection of all hostile actions against Palestinian civilians in Gaza, especially the targeting of hospitals and the blockade of medical aid.
Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that violence in Gaza has a deep impact on the wider Arab health and security landscape. He encouraged attendees to unite under the banner "The Arab World for the Arab World," asserting that by working together and pooling knowledge, resources, and logistical strengths, Arab nations can achieve self-sufficiency in healthcare and build a more resilient regional health system.
Key initiatives announced:
- Arab Healthcare Network: Dr. El-Sobky called for the establishment of an "Arab Healthcare Network" and a unified supply chain for medicines and medical equipment to help Arab countries better respond to emergencies and protect regional health security.
- Unified Clinical Research Initiative: He also launched an initiative to create a common Arab clinical research framework, promoting the localization of advanced medical technology and strengthening scientific and research capabilities across the region.
During his visit to the exhibition, Dr. El-Sobky praised the high quality of locally produced medical devices and supplies. He reaffirmed Egypt’s dedication to promoting domestic medical manufacturing that meets global standards, aiming to achieve national self-sufficiency while supporting local industry.
