Former Egyptian foreign minister urges security meeting amid Israel-Iran conflict

Egypt’s former foreign minister Amre Moussa has called for an urgent meeting of Egypt’s National Security Council in response to escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.

Moussa warned that the ongoing war, as well as the potential involvement of global powers, poses serious threats to regional security in the Middle East. “Egypt and the Egyptian people are not isolated from these risks,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Referring to Article 205 of the Egyptian constitution, Moussa urged the National Security Council—which is responsible for confronting threats to the nation’s safety—to convene immediately.

He emphasized the need for swift action to identify potential threats to Egypt’s national security, both internally and externally, and to implement measures to address them.
