Egyptian Foreign Minister casts first vote in Senate elections at Washington Embassy
Washington, D.C. — Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, became the first person to cast his vote in the Egyptian Senate elections at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington, D.C., as overseas voting began for Egyptians living abroad.
Dr. Abdelatty inaugurated the embassy polling station on Friday morning, marking the start of a two-day voting period for Egyptians residing outside the country, on August 1st and 2nd, 2025.
After voting, the Minister emphasized the importance of participating in national elections, describing it as both a constitutional right and a national duty. He highlighted Egypt’s commitment to ensuring that Egyptians living overseas are able to actively engage in the democratic process, stressing that they are an integral part of the country’s fabric and partners in building its future.
Dr. Abdelatty also praised the strong coordination between the National Election Authority and Egypt’s diplomatic and consular missions worldwide. He noted the efforts made to facilitate smooth and organized voting procedures for Egyptians abroad, and assured that embassies and consulates are fully prepared to welcome voters and provide any needed assistance throughout the electoral process.
He encouraged Egyptian citizens living abroad to exercise their democratic rights and vote for their preferred candidates, reaffirming that all Egyptian diplomatic missions are ready to support and receive voters during the election days.
