Egypt and Armenia explore enhanced cooperation in military and civilian manufacturing
Mohamed Salah El-Din Mustafa, Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production, welcomed Armen Sarkissian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Egypt, at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to discuss avenues for mutual cooperation.
The minister opened the meeting by warmly greeting the Armenian ambassador, highlighting that the discussion aimed to explore collaborative opportunities in both military and civilian manufacturing sectors.
He underscored the strong, historically rooted ties between Egypt and Armenia, which have seen significant progress in recent years, supported by the political leadership of both nations. This was evident in President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Armenia in January 2023 and the Armenian Prime Minister’s visit to Egypt in March 2024 to discuss bilateral cooperation across various fields.
During the meeting, Minister Salah showcased the capabilities of the Ministry of Military Production, emphasizing its primary role in meeting the needs of Egypt’s armed forces and police with weapons, equipment, and ammunition.
He noted that surplus production capacity in the ministry’s affiliated companies is utilized to manufacture high-quality, competitively priced civilian products and to contribute to national and developmental projects.
The minister explained that the ministry’s strategy focuses on openness and collaboration with global companies in similar fields to adopt and localize cutting-edge manufacturing technologies within its companies and units.
He expressed the ministry’s keen interest in partnering with Armenian companies across various sectors to establish strategic partnerships that benefit both sides.
Additionally, Minister Salah extended an invitation to Armenian companies to participate in the International Defense Exhibition (EDEX 2025), scheduled to take place in Egypt from December 1 to 4, 2025, at the Egypt International Exhibition Center under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Ambassador Armen Sarkissian expressed his delight at the meeting, highlighting Armenia’s interest in collaborating with Egypt, particularly with the Ministry of Military Production, given its distinguished manufacturing and technical capabilities.
He acknowledged the ministry’s vital role in advancing and localizing modern technologies across various production fields, positioning it as a key industrial arm in Egypt. The ambassador emphasized the importance of exchanging visits by specialists and technical delegations to assess the technological and manufacturing capabilities of both sides and precisely identify areas for joint cooperation.
He noted that such visits provide fertile ground for establishing fruitful strategic partnerships, especially given the strong cooperative and friendly relations between Egypt and Armenia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Sarkissian praised Egypt’s remarkable progress in various fields, particularly in digital transformation and the adoption of modern manufacturing technologies aligned with the principles of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He commended Egypt’s influential and effective role in its regional and international spheres, as well as its contributions to promoting peace and stability in the region.
