Egyptian and Lebanese leaders discuss strengthening ties, regional stability

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call today from Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, during which both leaders expressed their desire to further deepen the relationship between Egypt and Lebanon.

According to a statement from Egypt’s Presidential Spokesperson, the conversation focused on ways to enhance cooperation across various fields, especially in economic, trade, and investment sectors, reflecting the shared aspirations of the Egyptian and Lebanese people.

The leaders also exchanged views on regional developments and the importance of de-escalation in the Middle East.

President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, stressing Egypt’s clear opposition to any actions that could undermine Lebanese sovereignty.

He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s national institutions and its continued readiness to play a role in Lebanon’s reconstruction efforts—an appreciation warmly acknowledged by President Aoun.

The call also addressed the latest situation in the Gaza Strip. Both leaders highlighted the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the ongoing Israeli military operations, and the facilitation of vital humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Additionally, they called for the release of all hostages and detainees, and the swift commencement of reconstruction in the region.

President El-Sisi and President Aoun emphasized the consistent positions of both Egypt and Lebanon in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Both leaders firmly rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians from their land.

This conversation underscores the ongoing commitment of Egypt and Lebanon to regional peace, stability, and the well-being of their peoples.
