New scholarships to aid students after US funding ends in Egypt

New scholarships to aid students after US funding ends in Egypt

Egypt is taking a significant step to support access to higher education, with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and the Ministry of Higher Education signing two new cooperation agreements.

The protocols aim to provide comprehensive university scholarships for academically outstanding but financially disadvantaged students, giving special priority to students from border regions and those with disabilities. The initiative also supports students affected by the suspension of the US Aid Scholarships Program.

Starting from the next academic year, scholarships will be offered across public, private, and international universities in Egypt. The agreements include establishing a dedicated donation account at all Egyptian banks to ensure the long-term sustainability of the initiative.

The CBE Governor, Hassan Abdalla, emphasized that investing in students lays the foundation for Egypt’s sustainable economic and social development. Higher Education Minister Dr. Ayman Ashour expressed gratitude for the extraordinary support, highlighting that these protocols expand upon existing scholarship systems and promote equal opportunities for all.

Interested students can apply online for full scholarships, which will cover tuition and living expenses, by visiting the designated application portal: https://egyaid.mohesr.gov.eg/
