Egypt opens region’s largest agri-food exhibition

Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, officially inaugurated today the 10th edition of Food Africa, the largest international trade fair for agricultural crops, food industries, packaging and food-processing machinery in the Middle East and Africa region.

The three-day event hosts more than 1,200 exhibiting companies from 45 countries and attracts thousands of international buyers from Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Participating sectors include fresh produce, processed foods, packaging, food manufacturing equipment and dates.

During the opening ceremony, El-Wazir was joined by honorary chairman Hani Berzi, Ashraf El-Gazayerly (Chairman of the Food Industries Chamber), several ambassadors, heads of export councils, the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Egyptian Industries.

The Minister toured national pavilions of the UAE, Kuwait, Russia, Germany, India and Turkey, as well as stands of leading Egyptian and international companies specialising in food production, fruit and vegetable exports, and packaging lines.

El-Wazir stressed that the food industry is one of Egypt’s most promising sectors, offering high added value, sustainable growth, massive job creation and strong export potential. He noted that food industries are among the 28 priority investment opportunities identified by the Ministry of Industry.

He described Food Africa as a strategic platform that strengthens Egypt’s leadership in African markets, opens new export channels and deepens partnerships across the continent, where processed foods already form a cornerstone of Egyptian exports.

The exhibition also facilitates direct meetings between Egyptian exporters and major foreign importers, with organised field visits to export-oriented farms and factories planned during the event.
