Egypt denies plans for cable car connecting Grand Egyptian Museum and Pyramids of Giza

Amid global interest in ancient Egyptian civilization, recent rumors have circulated about a proposed cable car linking the Grand Egyptian Museum with the iconic Pyramids of Giza.

Archaeologists and experts have expressed concern that such a project could pose significant risks to Egypt’s cultural heritage.

However, Major General Atef Moftah, General Supervisor of the area surrounding the Grand Egyptian Museum, has confirmed to the press that there are no plans to build a cable car around, near, or between the Pyramids of Giza and the museum.

He clarified that while the idea was considered and studied in the past, it was ultimately dismissed and will not be revisited.

He stressed that reports about the project are unfounded, and any connection between the museum and the pyramids will be made through a pedestrian walkway, preserving the integrity of these world-famous landmarks.
