Egypt and Saudi Arabia deepen strategic cooperation, address regional crises

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — In a strong display of partnership and unity, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held high-level talks in Riyadh with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, as well as senior Saudi officials, to strengthen collaboration and consult on key regional developments.

The meetings were conducted following the guidance of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, both committed to elevating the longstanding ties between the two countries. Dr. Abdelatty’s visit to the Saudi capital included discussions with senior ministers responsible for industry and commerce, underlining a shared ambition to boost economic and investment cooperation for mutual benefit.

Both sides warmly praised the remarkable progress in relations, highlighting recent high-level visits, including President El-Sisi’s trip to Neom in August, as milestones in enhancing their strategic partnership. The ministers also expressed satisfaction with recent progress under the Egypt-Saudi Arabia Supreme Coordination Council, laying a solid foundation for upcoming leadership meetings led by President El-Sisi and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Regional security featured prominently in the talks, with the ministers expressing grave concern over the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the West Bank, and condemning Israeli military actions in Gaza as violations of international law and humanitarian principles. Both nations called for an immediate end to hostilities, unrestricted humanitarian access, and renewed international efforts toward a just and lasting peace, including broader international recognition of the State of Palestine.

Their discussions also addressed ongoing conflicts in Sudan, Libya, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen. The two foreign ministers reaffirmed their commitment to coordinated efforts supporting ceasefires, political solutions, unity, and the sovereignty of national institutions across the region.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to deepening the Egypt-Saudi strategic partnership and working closely to advance stability, development, and the hopes of peoples across the Arab world. Both sides emphasized that unity and dialogue are essential to overcoming the region’s greatest challenges.
