Egypt attends 24th COMESA summit in Nairobi, affirming commitment to African economic integration
Egypt has reaffirmed its dedication to African economic development and integration as it participates in the 24th Summit of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), held in Nairobi, Kenya. Representing H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly leads the Egyptian delegation, which includes key government officials such as the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Eng. Hassan El Khateeb. The summit brings together several heads of state, government leaders from COMESA member countries, and distinguished guests.
In actively engaging with COMESA, Egypt demonstrates its determination to support collective efforts to foster economic integration in eastern and southern Africa, aligning with the aspirations of the region’s people for growth, development, and prosperity. COMESA aims to increase trade and investment between member states and strengthen the role of private sector cooperation—areas where Egypt continues to play a prominent role.
Under the COMESA free trade arrangement, Egyptian goods enjoy duty-free access to member markets—a key driver for trade expansion. Egypt’s leadership also works toward deepening collaboration in crucial sectors such as industry, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and food production. Initiatives are underway to boost mutual investments and to create opportunities for joint projects that benefit communities across the continent.
Beyond trade, Egypt’s partnership with African nations covers a wide range of economic activities. By participating in COMESA and other regional economic blocs, Egypt supports the continent’s efforts to create unified value chains, promote industrial integration, and strengthen regional food and energy security. These strategic moves are designed to ensure sustainable development for all Africans.
Prime Minister Madbouly’s participation in the summit highlights Egypt’s unwavering support for regional integration and its vision for prosperity shared by all COMESA members. Egypt’s leadership is committed to advancing collaborative projects and policies that will bring economic opportunities, jobs, and greater well-being to African nations—living proof of the country’s deep-rooted ties and solidarity with its neighbors.
