Egypt prepares for the Grand Egyptian Museum opening as final touches are put in place

Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, chaired a high-profile meeting today with the Supreme Committee overseeing the Grand Egyptian Museum’s inauguration festivities. The gathering included key government ministers and officials, reflecting the national significance of this cultural milestone.

Prime Minister Madbouly emphasized the importance of this extraordinary international event, highlighting ongoing field visits and meticulous follow-up to ensure every detail—in hospitality, security, and logistics for distinguished guests—is prepared to showcase Egypt’s rich heritage to the world.

The committee reviewed the substantial infrastructure upgrades in the vicinity of the museum, particularly the development of Cairo’s ring road.

The Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, reported on the progress of various road and bridge expansions, as well as the introduction of the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system and Metro Line 4, both designed to facilitate visitors’ access to the museum.

Efforts to beautify and modernize the region continue, with coordinated work on landscaping, lighting, and urban aesthetics, ensuring the surrounding area mirrors the grandeur of the museum itself.

Military Engineer Walid Aref provided an update on the museum’s construction, confirming the completion of all main works. The project includes a 1.27 km tourist walkway, administrative and commercial complexes, and extensive parking facilities for thousands of vehicles and buses, along with comprehensive utility upgrades to enhance safety and services for guests.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is poised to become one of the world’s leading cultural venues, reflecting Egypt’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its ancient treasures. The upcoming opening on July 3 is expected to attract visitors and dignitaries from around the globe, marking a new era for Egypt’s cultural tourism.
