At a special ceremony in Cairo, Ambassador of France Éric Chevallier awarded Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, the distinguished former Egyptian Minister of Tourism, Trade, and Industry, the prestigious Legion of Honour (Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur) at the rank of Commander.

Abdel Nour, who currently serves as the President of the Board of Trustees for the French University in Egypt, is widely celebrated both for his long-standing dedication to public service in Egypt and for his deep commitment to strengthening cultural and diplomatic ties between France and Egypt, according to a statement from the French Embassy.

A true francophone at heart, Abdel Nour has devoted decades to promoting French culture in Egypt, working tirelessly to encourage mutual understanding and collaboration between the two nations. His leadership and passion have inspired many on both sides, reflecting his belief in the enduring power of cultural exchange and friendship.

This special distinction is one of France’s highest honors, reserved for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to French society or to strengthening France’s relations with the world. Through this award, France formally recognizes Mr. Abdel Nour’s decades of unwavering friendship, service, and bridge-building between the two peoples.
