Egypt invites global luxury brands to invest, boost shopping tourism

In the shimmering coastal city of New Alamein, Egypt’s forward-looking approach to economic growth and consumer culture was on full display as Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly met with representatives and strategic partners of the world’s leading luxury brands. The meeting marks an important step in Egypt’s ambitions to create an environment where international style and Egyptian hospitality come together, opening fresh horizons for shopping tourism and investment.

Held at the government’s headquarters in New Alamein, the gathering brought together a distinguished group, including Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population; Ms. Claudine Caviac, a key strategic partner for top luxury brands; Mr. Ibrahim Sami, another strategic partner to global retailers; and senior officials from Egypt’s export, import, and investment authorities.

Prime Minister Madbouly greeted the international guests with warmth and optimism, expressing his government’s keen interest in seeing the world’s most beloved and prestigious brands become a vibrant presence in the Egyptian market. “Egypt has a huge consumer market,” he said. “Many Egyptians travel abroad to shop, and we want to make those same brands—and experiences—available right here at home, not only for our people but for visitors from around the world.”

Dr. Madbouly noted the recent economic reforms that have brought stability to Egypt’s currency market, including the adoption of a flexible exchange rate and streamlined financial procedures. These, he said, are integral in fostering an attractive climate for foreign investment, while also ensuring ease of doing business for top brands considering a regional hub in Egypt.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar highlighted the unique incentives available to international investors, such as special exemptions tied to the Euro 1 certification, and reassured participants that Egypt’s doors are open wide for innovation and collaboration.

One of the standout moments of the meeting was the enthusiasm from Ms. Claudine Caviac. Reflecting on her previous visits to Egypt—both for business and leisure—she praised the country’s remarkable growth and stability in recent years. Ms. Caviac expressed genuine excitement about the possibilities ahead: “I see many promising opportunities here. We will study the prospect of global brands having a significant presence in Egypt and share the results with leading luxury companies. I believe we can create a unique shopping experience for both Egyptians and the millions of tourists who visit each year.”

Mr. Ibrahim Sami also voiced his eagerness to both invest in Egypt and bring his expertise in luxury retail to the local market, sparking hope for exciting collaborations.

The meeting concluded with Prime Minister Madbouly and his guests sharing a vision: an inviting Egypt where shopping tourism flourishes, world-class brands feel at home, and both residents and international visitors enjoy a gateway to luxury, convenience, and unforgettable moments.

With its doors open to iconic brands and innovative partners, and with the Mediterranean breeze of New Alamein as a backdrop, Egypt is poised to become the region’s newest and most welcoming destination for retail, investment, and hospitality.
