Egypt launches GEM commemorative gold & silver coins amid high demand
Egypt has begun selling diverse gold and silver commemorative coins featuring key landmarks of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), secured with authenticity certificates at the Mint Authority outlet in Cairo. The coins have seen strong public and tourist demand.
Gold coin prices (EGP):
- 1 pound: 84,000
- 5 pounds: 273,000
- 10 pounds: 420,000
- 25 pounds: 472,500
- 50 pounds: 498,750
- 100 pounds: 551,250
Silver coin prices (EGP):
- 1 pound: 2,580
- 5 pounds: 3,010
- 10 pounds: 3,440
- 25 pounds: 4,042
- 50 pounds: 4,300
- 100 pounds: 5,160
In coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, new editions showcasing GEM’s iconic artifacts are planned as part of a strategy to revive and document Egypt’s historical symbols.
