Egypt and Turkey reaffirm growing partnership at key Doha summit
Doha, Qatar — In an important diplomatic step, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met with his Turkish counterpart, Mr. Hakan Fidan, on Sunday, September 14, on the sidelines of the ministerial preparatory meeting for the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in the Qatari capital, Doha.
The two ministers discussed the positive momentum in the relationship between Egypt and Turkey, emphasizing their commitment to build on recent progress and expand joint cooperation, especially in economic, trade, and investment fields. Both sides underscored the importance of deepening political consultation and strengthening institutional frameworks, with the aim of broadening their strategic partnership.
Regionally, the ministers jointly expressed their solidarity with Qatar in the face of the recent Israeli attack against its sovereignty. They called for an immediate end to the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, condemned policies of siege, starvation, and displacement, and highlighted the urgent need for unimpeded humanitarian aid access. Furthermore, both Egypt and Turkey reiterated their unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
This meeting reflects ongoing efforts among regional powers to foster dialogue and solidarity amidst pressing challenges, and highlights the shared hopes for stability and peace in the Middle East.
