Egypt celebrates Russia’s National Day at Cairo Opera House

Cairo shimmered with cultural vibrancy this evening as dignitaries, artists, and diplomats came together in a dazzling celebration of Russia’s National Day.

The main hall of Cairo Opera House echoed with music, dance, and warm words of friendship, as Egyptian and Russian leaders marked the deep and enduring ties between their nations.

Representing Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Sherif Fathy, joined the festivities as a guest of honor. He was welcomed by Russia’s Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Georgiy Borisenko, who graciously hosted this spectacular evening.

The event gathered an impressive roster of Egyptian ministers—Mr. Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sector; Dr. Sameh El Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation; and Counselor Mahmoud Fawzy, Minister of Parliamentary Councils and Political Communication—reflecting the importance both countries place on their partnership.

In his address, Minister Fathy celebrated the robust and historic cooperation between Egypt and Russia, especially in the tourism sector. He noted how both nations’ leaderships are deeply committed to nurturing even stronger connections in the future.

Ambassador Borisenko reciprocated, expressing Russia’s appreciation for its flourishing relationship with Egypt.

He highlighted milestones like the Comprehensive Partnership and Strategic Cooperation Treaty signed by Presidents El-Sisi and Putin, and the two countries’ collaboration on the world stage as BRICS members.

With a twinkle, he spoke of the millions of Russian tourists who flock each year to Egypt’s stunning Red Sea resorts and the timeless wonders of the Nile Valley.

But the heart of the evening was, without doubt, the cultural performances.

The world-renowned Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” captivated the audience with a spellbinding blend of classical ballet and Russian folk traditions.

Not to be outdone, Egypt’s own legendary Reda Troupe for Folk Arts charmed all with their vibrant display of Egyptian folkloric dance.

The evening was more than a celebration—it was a colorful testament to the friendship and continuous cultural exchange between Egypt and Russia.

As applause rang and smiles filled the halls, everyone was reminded that the magic of diplomacy often begins with the warmth of shared tradition and artistry.
