Egypt and UAE strengthen strategic energy partnership
Abu Dhabi– Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi, held key meetings today with His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Group CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), as well as Mr. Nasser Al Yafei, CEO of Arqius Energy, during his official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
The discussions focused on deepening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the UAE, with a special emphasis on the petroleum and gas sector. Minister Badawi highlighted Egypt’s commitment to fostering joint projects in energy, underscoring the importance that country’s leadership places on the oil and gas industry and the continuous efforts to support investors through policies that promote flexibility and transparency.
Minister Al Jaber reiterated the UAE’s strong interest in investing in Egypt’s dynamic energy market and emphasized the value of launching long-term strategic initiatives that reflect the robust ties between both nations.
Mr. Al Yafei, Arqius Energy’s CEO, commended the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum’s efforts to secure energy supplies and stressed that ongoing discussions with the Egyptian side are constructive and promising. He noted new exploration opportunities in the Mediterranean Sea that could pave the way for increased investments by Arqius in Egypt.
Minister Badawi was accompanied by Dr. Samir Raslan, Head of the Central Department for Agreements and Exploration; Mr. Nasser Shoman, Head of the Central Department of Petroleum Products Transport and Marketing; and Dr. Mohamed El-Bagoury, Supervisor of the Central Department of Legal Affairs.
These meetings affirm the commitment of Egypt and the UAE to building a future-oriented energy partnership that serves the interests of both countries and strengthens energy security and cooperation across the region.
