China showcases Shandong culture at Algeria’s SITEV Tourism Fair
China’s cultural centre in Cairo took part in the 25th International Tourism and Travel Salon (SITEV) in Algiers, held from 18 to 21 May 2026, in cooperation with the Chinese embassy in Algeria and the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
This year’s Chinese pavilion was presented under the theme “Hometown of Confucius – Hospitable Shandong”, showcasing a wide range of activities highlighting the cultural and tourism assets of Shandong. Visitors were offered photo and video displays, demonstrations of intangible cultural heritage, and events under the “Cultural Salon · Tea for Harmony” initiative.
The exhibition coincided with “China Tourism Day” on 19 May, during which organisers screened a promotional video illustrating the high‑quality development of China’s tourism sector and inviting visitors from around the world to explore China’s diverse destinations.
China’s participation concluded with the pavilion receiving, for the second consecutive year, the “Best Foreign Pavilion” award, presented by Algeria’s Ministry of Tourism and Traditional Industries.
