Egypt and China call for ceasefire and humanitarian aid in Gaza
Alamein, Egypt (MENA) — Egypt and China have reaffirmed the importance of upholding the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran and urged the resumption of diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis peacefully. Both nations also stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza and immediate humanitarian assistance for affected civilians, while underscoring the importance of reaching a comprehensive, just solution to the Palestinian issue.
The statements came during talks between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Alamein, attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and senior officials from both sides.
President Sisi highlighted Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its comprehensive strategic partnership with China, especially with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations approaching in 2026. He praised Chinese companies’ involvement in Egypt’s development projects and welcomed further Chinese investment—particularly in renewable energy, electric vehicles, and tourism.
For his part, Premier Li conveyed greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping, describing President Sisi as a valued friend and underlining China’s appreciation for its close, mutually respectful relationship with Egypt. He commended Egypt’s pivotal regional role as a cornerstone for stability and reaffirmed China’s desire for closer cooperation at the regional and international levels.
Leaders from both countries also discussed regional and global developments, expressing shared views on the importance of peaceful solutions and mutual economic growth.
