Iran FM: Missile attacks on Israel will stop if Israeli strikes cease

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, said on Sunday that Iran would stop firing missiles at Israel if Israel ends its attacks on Iran, which have been ongoing since Friday.

During a televised meeting with foreign diplomats, Araqchi stated, “We are defending ourselves, and our defense is completely legitimate.” He added, “This response is a reaction to aggression. If the aggression stops, of course our response will stop as well.”

Araqchi also criticized the United Nations Security Council, accusing it of ignoring Israeli strikes on Iran.

He stated that “the Israeli attack has been met with indifference at the Security Council,” and criticized Western governments for condemning Iran rather than Israel, despite, as he put it, Iran being the victim of aggression.

Araqchi’s appearance came as he was supposed to meet with U.S. officials in Oman for negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program. However, these talks collapsed due to the Israeli attacks.
