IAEA: Iran able to resume uranium enrichment quickly
VIENNA - Iran could resume uranium enrichment within just a few months, according to the head of the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog.
Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), stated that recent US strikes on three sites inflicted “severe damage,” though he emphasized the destruction was not “total.”
Speaking to CBS News, Grossi noted, “Iran still has the necessary capacities. In a matter of months—perhaps even sooner—they could have several centrifuge cascades operational and begin producing enriched uranium once more.
“To be candid, it would be incorrect to suggest that everything is gone and nothing remains,” he added.
Grossi explained that Iran retains both the technological and industrial infrastructure required, meaning they could restart enrichment activities if they decide to do so.
