Egypt, Chinese firms to establish advanced robotic surgery hubs
In an exciting step towards transforming medical care in Egypt, Minister of Health and Population and Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met on Wednesday with representatives from renowned Chinese medical technology companies “TechnoWave” and “Medbot” to discuss new avenues for collaboration in advanced robotic surgery. The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, signals a major step forward in Egypt’s vision for a modern, high-quality healthcare system.
According to Ministry spokesperson Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the talks focused on establishing state-of-the-art robotic surgery training centers in Egypt, equipped with the latest global technologies. This collaboration will support the Ministry’s initiative to bring cutting-edge robotic surgical technology into Egyptian hospitals and invest in the nation’s human capital.
As part of the proposed partnership, specialized robotic systems for various types of operations will be introduced, and Egyptian surgeons will receive advanced training—both in-person and through remote learning platforms—building critical expertise among local medical teams and enhancing patient care outcomes nationwide.
“This collaboration represents a leap forward in medical precision, and will raise the efficiency of our healthcare workforce,” the spokesperson said. The plan also includes steps toward local manufacturing and exporting of robotic surgery instruments, reinforcing Egypt’s ambition to become a regional leader in this high-stakes field.
The discussions highlighted Egypt’s commitment, as guided by the country’s leadership, to support innovation and technological development in the medical sector. The partnership is expected not only to benefit Egyptian patients with safer, more accurate procedures, but also to position Egypt as a hub for advanced surgical training and innovation throughout the Middle East and Africa.
Dr. Abdel Ghaffar was joined by senior ministry officials and top executives from both Chinese companies, all united by a warm spirit of teamwork and shared hope for a healthier future.
