Türkiye’s Şırıkçıoğlu to build $20 million denim factory in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone

Türkiye’s Şırıkçıoğlu to build $20 million denim factory in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) in Egypt is set to welcome a significant new investment from Turkish textile firm Şırıkçıoğlu.

Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of SCZONE, and Atif Şırıkçı, Chairman of Şırıkçıoğlu Grubu Textile Turkiye, signed an agreement to establish a new denim yarn and fabric manufacturing plant in the industrial district of Qantara West.

Occupying an area of 16,700 square meters and backed by $20 million in investments (approximately 1 billion Egyptian pounds), the new facility is expected to generate 500 direct jobs.

The factory is projected to produce up to 18 million meters of denim fabric annually—the essential material for making jeans—with half the output dedicated to export markets and the remainder supplying Egyptian manufacturers.

Speaking at the signing, Gamal El-Din emphasized that the Suez Canal Economic Zone is intensifying its drive to attract more investments in strategic sectors.

“This aligns with our commitment to deepen local manufacturing, boost exports, and make the most of Egypt's stable political and economic environment. Our location allows seamless access to global trade routes and logistics networks spanning the Red and Mediterranean Seas,” he noted.

He also highlighted the area’s modern infrastructure, skilled workforce, and attractive incentives for investors as key to SCZONE’s development as a prime investment destination. The Qantara West industrial zone now hosts 25 investment projects, with a total investment exceeding $681.5 million and providing nearly 35,000 direct job opportunities.

The new textile plant marks a milestone in Egypt’s efforts to localize supply chains—from raw materials to finished garments—particularly in the high-demand denim sector. It complements broader strategies aiming to strengthen the country’s role in global supply networks and export-oriented industries.

Founded in 1997, Şırıkçıoğlu is recognized as one of Türkiye’s leading denim yarn and fabric producers, employing over 5,000 people across its facilities. The company exports its high-quality products to major global brands worldwide.

This collaboration highlights the growing economic ties between Egypt and Türkiye and reflects ongoing confidence from international investors in Egypt’s industrial development and export potential.
