Egypt, Bahrain leaders call for calm amid regional escalation, Gaza crisis

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain held a telephone conversation today, focusing on recent developments and escalating tensions in the Middle East.

According to the official spokesperson of the Egyptian Presidency, the two leaders expressed deep concern regarding the ongoing escalation between Israel and Iran. Both leaders warned against a further widening of the conflict, cautioning that it could have severe consequences for all countries in the region.

They stressed the urgent need for all parties to act responsibly and to seek a peaceful resolution to the crisis through negotiation and diplomacy. The leaders also called on the international community to play its part in supporting peace and stability.

During their conversation, President El-Sisi and King Hamad emphasized that the current regional instability is closely linked to the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza. Both leaders called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, given the worsening humanitarian situation faced by civilians in the region. They urged for the immediate and urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

Furthermore, the two leaders reiterated that establishing a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital remains the only guarantee for lasting regional stability.

The conversation also highlighted the strong and enduring relationship between Egypt and Bahrain. Both leaders expressed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation across all sectors, in line with the aspirations of their peoples for progress and prosperity.
