Rome premiere of ‘The Man with the Hat’ draws crowd
Rome, Italy – A packed audience filled the historic Adriano Cinema in Rome late Saturday for a special screening of the upcoming documentary “The Man with the Hat,” attended by Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass and the film’s director Geoff Roth.
The Italian audience welcomed the film with warm applause. The documentary traces Hawass’s career and explorations, and the screening was preceded by a panel discussion moderated by a prominent Italian journalist. Hawass and Roth spoke about the filming process and the cultural message they hope to convey internationally.
During the event, the filmmakers announced a series of global screenings. The documentary will be shown in New York in June, followed by an official selection at Italy’s Marateale Film Festival on July 24.
“The Man with the Hat” began its international tour in Cairo, where the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization hosted the film’s world premiere. The event drew ministers, ambassadors and cultural figures, marking the launch of a cinematic work that highlights Hawass’s long career and his signature hat, now a symbol of Egyptian archaeological exploration.
