Egypt and France strengthen strategic economic partnership

In a move to deepen bilateral cooperation, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, held a meeting with French Ambassador to Cairo, Éric Chevallier. The discussion focused on mechanisms to implement the economic partnership agreement signed during French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Egypt in April, where the two nations elevated their relations to a strategic partnership.

Dr. Al-Mashat underscored the depth of Egyptian-French relations, noting their long-term partnership has been instrumental in supporting economic growth and development across various sectors. She highlighted Egypt's commitment to fostering an attractive investment environment and its readiness for new partnerships to drive innovation and sustainable development.

The Minister elaborated on Egypt's recently launched "National Economic Development Narrative," a comprehensive roadmap designed to align the government's action plan with the goals of Egypt Vision 2030. This narrative, she explained, is built on five core pillars:

  • Macroeconomic Stability
  • Attracting Foreign Direct Investment
  • Industrial Development and Foreign Trade
  • Labor Market Efficiency and Flexibility
  • Regional Planning for Economic Development

Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the government's strategic pivot towards the private sector as the main driver of economic growth and job creation, a direction guided by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly. She reviewed Egypt's efforts to create an appealing investment climate and remove obstacles for investors, ensuring the private sector becomes a key partner in achieving Vision 2030 targets.

The meeting also touched on the future of Egyptian-French relations, with both sides expressing a shared vision on many issues. Discussions reflected a mutual determination to elevate economic ties, especially in critical sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure.

The talks aimed to attract further investment and guarantee that the continued cooperation between Egypt and France yields tangible results for both countries and their peoples. This meeting follows Dr. Al-Mashat’s participation in the Middle East and North Africa Business Forum in May, where she promoted investment opportunities in the Egyptian economy under the patronage of President Macron.
