Luanda, Angola – Egypt and Angola are set to expand cooperation in transport and energy after high-level meetings during the US-Africa Business Summit in Luanda.

Egypt’s Minister of Public Enterprises, Eng. Mohamed Shimi, met with Angola’s Minister of Transport, Ricardo Daniel Sandão Queirós Viegas de Abreu, and Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum, and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, to discuss new opportunities for joint projects.

During the talks, both sides explored ways to share Egypt’s leading experience in developing modern transport infrastructure, from railways and metros to high-speed electric trains. On the energy front, discussions focused on boosting partnerships in mining, gas, fertilizers, and petrochemicals. Egypt underlined its readiness to bring strong industrial and construction companies into the Angolan market, offering expertise in building and upgrading infrastructure.

"Closer economic integration with Africa is now a strategic necessity," said Minister Shimi. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to long-term industrial partnerships, joint investments, and professional training programs to support Angola’s technical workforce.

Angola’s ministers praised Egypt’s track record in reforms and infrastructure, inviting Egyptian companies to study investment and cooperation opportunities across multiple sectors.
