China strengthens global trade stability amid rising protectionism

Amid a global trend of protectionism and rising anti-globalization sentiment, China has succeeded in helping to stabilize international trade through its efficient industrial and robust supply chain systems, according to a statement by the Chinese Embassy in Cairo obtained by The Nile Observer.

During the first five months of 2025, China’s total imports and exports reached 17.94 trillion yuan (approximately $2.5 trillion USD), reflecting a year-on-year increase of 2.5%. Notably, the country’s exports grew by 7.2% during the same period—underscoring China’s vital role in the global trade landscape. Additionally, China’s Logistics Market Index reached 50.6% in May, indicating the continued expansion and resilience of its supply chain sector.

Commenting on the sidelines of the Third International Shipping Industry Expo in Tianjin, Emirati businessman Mr. Weerasinghe, who operates in the logistics sector, stated that "China maintains trade relations with almost every country worldwide, becoming an indispensable partner for international companies." He added that his company has already established operations in key port cities including Tianjin, Shanghai, and Ningbo, and he plans to visit China twice annually to explore further business opportunities.

These developments highlight that China is not only a manufacturing powerhouse but also a driving force in reinforcing global supply chain stability. In today’s complex international environment, the "Chinese solution" has demonstrated its pivotal role in shaping a new phase of globalization, providing a positive model for international economic stability and cooperation.
