Burkina Faso backs Egyptian nominee for UNESCO Director-General
Burkina Faso has formally announced its support for Dr. Khaled El-Enany, Egypt’s nominee and the African Union’s candidate, for the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The announcement was made by Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, during a joint press conference on today, with Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration. Minister Traoré emphasized that this endorsement reflects the strong ties and longstanding cooperation between Burkina Faso and Egypt.
He added that Dr. El-Enany’s broad experience and visionary outlook align with African priorities and UNESCO’s goals. Burkina Faso’s support, he noted, also stems from the conviction that a prominent and widely respected African leader should assume this important international post in the coming period.
