S. Korean Presidential envoy tours Egypt’s Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza Pyramids

As part of his official visit to Egypt, Mr. Park Beom Kye, the Special Presidential Envoy and member of South Korea’s ruling Democratic Party, toured two of the country’s most iconic landmarks: the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Pyramids of Giza.

Accompanied by South Korean Ambassador to Egypt Kim Yong-hyon and delegation members, Mr. Park was welcomed at the Grand Egyptian Museum by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, the museum authority’s CEO.

The delegation explored the museum’s spacious exterior, Grand Hall, monumental staircase, and twelve exhibition halls, which together showcase the rich history of ancient Egypt from its earliest dynasties through the Greco-Roman era. Ms. Souad Mohamed of the museum’s Public Relations and Protocol department provided the guests with an overview of the museum’s unique collections and galleries.

Following the museum tour, the South Korean officials visited the Giza Pyramids complex, including entry into the Great Pyramid.

Guided by Dr. Ashraf Mohie El-Din, Director General of Giza Antiquities, they learned about the methods used in constructing the ancient wonder. The delegation also visited the Sphinx, where they were briefed on both the methods of its creation and ongoing conservation projects, such as the efforts to reduce groundwater levels in the area.

The visit concluded with a panoramic tour, where Mr. Park and his colleagues took commemorative photos with the majestic pyramids as a backdrop.

Mr. Park and the South Korean delegation expressed deep admiration for the Grand Egyptian Museum’s unique treasures and the grandeur of the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, describing them as lasting testaments to Egyptian civilization’s ingenuity. The envoy reaffirmed South Korea’s keen interest in further deepening cultural and heritage cooperation with Egypt.
