The Chinese Embassy in Egypt, together with the Chinese Association for International Cultural Exchange, held on June 12 the "Tea for Harmony" cultural salon by the Nile River, along with a special event to promote the culture and tourism of Shandong Province, China.

The event was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Liao Liqiang, former Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, Vice President of the Egyptian-Chinese Friendship Association Mr. Ali El-Hefny, and around 300 distinguished guests from both the Chinese and Egyptian communities.

Ambassador Liao Liqiang expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with Egypt in implementing the Global Civilization Initiative, deepening the longstanding friendship between the two nations, and advancing their bilateral relations to a higher quality level.

He highlighted the important measures recently announced by President Xi Jinping to further open up to Africa, emphasizing that these steps provide vital guidance for both China and Africa to jointly move towards modernization and to build a future-oriented China-Africa community in this new era.

Former Prime Minister Essam Sharaf noted that Egypt’s civilizational values are closely aligned with the vision of building a shared future for humanity. He emphasized that both Egyptian and Chinese cultures will play a key role in shaping a new international order founded on diversity, dialogue, and inclusion, enabling all nations to look forward to a brighter future.

During the event, guests enjoyed displays of cultural innovation and images of intangible heritage from Shandong Province.

They savored red tea from the city of Rizhao, Confucius Mansion Tea, and peony flower tea from the city of Heze.

Attendees also watched a cultural and tourism promotional film about Shandong, listened to traditional folk music performed by artists from the Chinese "New Liu Fu" ensemble, and experienced the rich charm of Chinese culture from many different perspectives.
