Egypt’s Deputy PM attends China’s 80th war victory celebrations
Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Lieutenant-General Kamel El-Wazir, has departed Cairo International Airport early this morning, bound for China. He is representing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at China’s commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
The high-profile event brings together heads of state, government leaders, and delegations from around the world, reflecting the significance of this shared historical milestone.
Egypt’s participation underscores the deep and strategic partnership between Cairo and Beijing. Since being elevated to a "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" in 2014, bilateral relations have grown ever closer. In January 2024, both nations signed an executive program to advance this strategic partnership through 2028, providing a robust roadmap to further enhance cooperation in diverse sectors.
Minister El-Wazir affirmed that China remains a strategic partner for Egypt, expressing a shared ambition to strengthen ties, especially in the economic domain. He highlighted that China is Egypt’s top trading partner and voiced hope for more robust Chinese investments in Egypt’s fast-growing economy.
During his visit to China, Minister El-Wazir is scheduled to meet with prominent leaders from major Chinese enterprises to discuss ongoing and future collaborations. These meetings aim to attract additional Chinese investments and expand economic cooperation in various sectors within Egypt.
