Egypt’s young Squash stars shine internationally

Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Egyptian national squash team and the Egyptian Squash Federation for their outstanding performances at recent international junior tournaments in Europe and the Netherlands.


The young athletes achieved remarkable results at the European Junior Open, held from July 10-13, and the Dutch Junior Open, hosted from July 3-6, reaffirming Egypt’s leadership in world squash.


Dr. Sobhy expressed deep pride in the accomplishments of Egypt’s boys and girls at these championships, describing their victories as a true reflection of the country’s dominance in the sport on both regional and global levels. He emphasized that the exceptional performances are the result of Egypt’s deep-rooted talent and the comprehensive institutional support provided to squash—a sport that has become a cornerstone of Egypt’s sporting success.


Looking ahead, Dr. Sobhy underlined Egypt’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of champions, capable of maintaining the country’s impressive legacy at international arenas. He noted that this is part of broad, long-term plans to prepare the national team for future glory, particularly at the "Los Angeles 2028" Olympic Games, and to expand the base of participation in sports by scouting and supporting young talent across age groups.

- Girls Under-13: Emy Hassan placed second, Lian Amara third, and Khadija Bondoq fourth.

- Girls Under-15: Sandy Hassan took first place, Lana Fathalla second, and Nour Deyaa El-Din third.

- Boys Under-15: Mostafa El-Zoghby earned third place, and Malek Mohamed Abdo finished fourth.

- Girls Under-17: Mariam El-Motayet won first place, while Yara Harfoush was runner-up.

- Boys Under-17: Omar El-Tabbakh clinched first place, with Yassin Quraitym securing third.


Notable Results from the Dutch Junior Open:

- Boys Under-11: Omar El-Zohairy secured second place.

- Girls Under-11: Aysel Ashour finished first.

- Boys Under-13: Hamza Ahmed El-Ghandour claimed third.

- Girls Under-13: Emy Hassan came first, and Lian Amara second.

- Boys Under-15: Omar Sadeq topped the group.

- Girls Under-15: Lana Fathalla triumphed in first, Sandy Hassan won second, and Nour Deyaa El-Din was third.

- Boys Under-17: Michael Peter took first, Omar El-Tabbakh second.

- Girls Under-17: Mariam El-Motayet claimed gold in her category.
