Egypt inaugurates first art hotel in Africa
Egypt proudly celebrated the official opening of the Hyatt Centric Cairo West, the country’s—and Africa’s—first hotel dedicated to art.
This innovative hotel showcases contemporary Egyptian art in its design and spirit, offering travelers a vibrant, creative, and authentic local experience close to the majestic Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The event also marked the exclusive launch of “Hyatt Centric Cairo West Residences,” a new residential project associated with the hotel.
A fruitful partnership between Egypt’s ADD Real Estate (part of Sami Saad Holding Group) and Hyatt Hotels Corporation made this project a reality. The collaboration reflects Egypt’s commitment to encouraging sustainable investments in tourism and expanding the country’s hospitality infrastructure, in line with the national economic vision.
During the ceremony, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy highlighted the growth of tourism in Egypt. From January to May 2025, Egypt experienced a 26% increase in visitor numbers compared to the same period last year, along with a significant rise in tourism revenue.
“With more and more travelers discovering Egypt, we must double the number of hotel rooms over the next five years,” the Minister said. He announced plans to launch a digital learning and training platform to improve service and soft skills among tourism professionals.
The Hyatt Centric Cairo West features 304 art-inspired rooms and suites, brought to life through the creative collaboration of 11 Egyptian artists under the leadership of Add Art. Its prime location, near historical landmarks and the Grand Egyptian Museum, offers guests fascinating opportunities to explore both ancient wonders and contemporary culture.
Hyatt Hotels, the world’s fourth-largest hotel group, recently returned to Egypt, having reopened with the successful Hyatt Regency Cairo West in 2022. The new Hyatt Centric is yet another sign of renewed confidence and growth in Egypt’s hospitality sector.
Mr. Javier Águila, President of Hyatt Hotels for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, remarked: “This hotel is a milestone for Hyatt and for Cairo. The west Cairo location, near the nation’s greatest treasures, was a deliberate choice.”
The Egyptian government and hotel partners signed a new strategic Memorandum of Understanding, aiming to expand world-class hotel capacity to accommodate future tourism growth.
The opening of Hyatt Centric Cairo West symbolizes Egypt’s ambition to deliver unforgettable stays for visitors from around the world, blending world-class hospitality with Egypt’s rich and lively culture.
