King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain have concluded a remarkable royal visit to Luxor, Egypt, immersing themselves in the timeless wonders of the ancient city. Accompanied by Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, the royals explored a host of iconic archaeological sites that highlight Egypt’s extraordinary cultural heritage.


Their tour included a visit to the breathtaking Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir El-Bahari, where they witnessed ongoing conservation efforts and the awe-inspiring architecture of Egypt’s legendary female pharaoh. The royal couple also met with members of Spanish archaeological missions at the nearby Temple of Thutmose III and the tomb of Djehuty, underscoring the enduring collaboration between Egypt and Spain in antiquities research.


Venturing further, King Felipe and Queen Letizia toured the famed Valley of the Kings, descending into several royal tombs, including that of Ramses V—a poignant reminder of Egypt’s ancient dynastic legacy. The visit concluded with a tour of the Luxor Museum, where the royals admired artifacts spanning thousands of years.


The journey highlights the deepening ties between Spain and Egypt and celebrates the international teamwork preserving Egypt’s rich archaeological heritage for future generations.
