Surge in violence and evictions as Israeli operations intensify across the West Bank
There has been a significant escalation in Israeli military operations across the West Bank, as reported today by Walaa Al-Salamain, a correspondent for Cairo News Channel in Ramallah.
The region is witnessing an increase in daily Israeli raids, forced demolitions, and evacuations targeting Palestinian residents, along with a notable rise in settler violence.
In a live interview, Al-Salamain indicated that the city of Hebron has experienced repeated incursions over the past 24 hours, resulting in the arrest of six Palestinians from the city and its surrounding areas. Additionally, dozens of demolition orders were issued in the nearby town of Bani Na’im, affecting homes as well as commercial and agricultural buildings, as authorities begin preparations for demolition.
She also highlighted that the village of Susiya, south of Hebron, now faces the threat of complete displacement amid renewed efforts by Israeli authorities to assert control over the area and forcibly remove its Palestinian inhabitants.
Meanwhile, in the north of the West Bank, Al-Salamain reported that Tulkarm Refugee Camp is facing a large-scale evacuation plan that would affect 54 homes. The Israeli army has set a strict timeline, allowing limited access for relief teams and residents to collect their belongings, while warning that anyone attempting entry outside of designated routes or times would be subject to live fire.
Further north, the city of Jenin saw Israeli forces storm the village of Anza, sparking violent clashes during which a Palestinian youth was injured by live ammunition. In the village of Salem east of Nablus, Israeli forces imposed a siege on two homes, leading to the surrender of a Palestinian resident following intense gunfire and a prolonged standoff.
The latest developments mark an alarming uptick in confrontations, demolitions, and forced evictions, increasing tensions and instability throughout the West Bank region.
